Zibai is here! Here's how to build her.
It's the Year of the Horse, and Genshin Impact is celebrating the Lunar New Year with the addition of Zibai, the legendary White Horse Adeptus of Liyue. Pegged as a Geo character with a preference for the sword, Zibai is a DPS character whose kit entirely revolves around the new Lunar reaction: Lunar-Crystallize.
What is Lunar-Crystallize?
Lunar-Crystallize occurs when a Moon Wheel-aligned character inflicts Geo on a target already afflicted with Hydro. The reaction will then generate three Moondrifts, which will resonate and unleash Moondrift Harmony.
A Moondrift is a Geo construct, and if the Lunar-Crystallize reaction is triggered three times, each of the Moondrifts will launch a projectile to deal Geo DMG. Similar to other Moonsign-aligned Lunar reactions, Lunar-Crystallize is capable of generating Critical hits.
Zibai is purely a DPS character
Zibai's abilities scale with her total DEF, and paired with her fixed role as a DPS character (she has little value as a support and her damage is better if she's the main dealer), her kit makes her pretty straightforward to build.
For artifacts, here's what you can give her:
The best option:
| ARTIFACT SET | 2-PC | 4-PC |
|---|---|---|
Night of the Sky’s Unveiling | Elemental Mastery +80 | When a nearby teammate triggers a Lunar Reaction and the wearer is on-field, they gain Gleaming Moon: Intent for 4s, boosting CRIT Rate by 15% (Nascent Gleam) or 30% (Ascendant Gleam). Additionally, the party’s Lunar Reaction DMG increases by 10% for each different Gleaming Moon effect among members. Gleaming Moon effects don’t stack. |
Given that Zibai will have a Moon Wheel, and her kit centres around Lunar-Crystallize, it's good to have her equip an artifact set that can increase her Elemental Mastery and CRIT Ratios.
Alternatives:
| ARTIFACT SET | 2-PC | 4-PC |
|---|---|---|
| Husk of Opulent Dreams | DEF +30% | A character with this Artifact set gains Curiosity stacks by dealing Geo damage on-field (once every 0.3s) or automatically off-field every 3s. Curiosity stacks up to 4 times, each giving +6% DEF and +6% Geo DMG Bonus. If no new stack is gained for 6s, 1 stack is lost. |
| Wanderer's Troupe + Husk of Opulent Dreams | Elemental Mastery +80 DEF +30% | This is a combination of two artifact sets. |
Both alternatives provide additional increases to Zibai's DEF and Elemental Mastery, which is ideal if you have yet to farm the perfect Night of Sky's Unveiling set. Although you will lose on the CRIT increase, it's not a huge loss in the mean time, as you try to find the perfect pieces.
Per-artifact stats to gun for are:
| ARTIFACT PIECE | MAIN STAT | SUB STATS |
|---|---|---|
| Sands | DEF% | CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, DEF%, Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge |
| Goblet | DEF% | CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, DEF%, Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge |
| Circlet | CRIT Rate/DMG | CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, DEF%, Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge |
Make sure to stack as much DEF and Elemental Mastery, as well as CRIT, to make full use of both her independent damage and the damage provided by Lunar-Crystallize.
For weapons, since Zibai's DMG mainly comes from triggering her Elemental Skill instead of her Burst, it's best to slot in a sword that is capable of giving her DEF, CRIT boosts, or more Elemental Mastery.
Best choice:
| WEAPON | RARITY | STATS AND EFFECTS |
|---|---|---|
Lightbearing Moonshard | 5-star | Base ATK: 542 Bonus Stat CRIT DMG + 88.2% Skill Effect: Legacy of Lang-Gan Increases DEF by 20%. DMG inflicted by Lunar-Crystallize reactions increases by 64% for 5s after the equipping character uses an Elemental Skill. |
Alternatives:
| WEAPON | RARITY | STATS AND EFFECTS |
|---|---|---|
| Uraku Misuguri | 5-star | Base ATK: 510 Bonus Stat: CRIT DMG+88.2% Skill Effect: Brocade Bloom, Shrine Sword Normal Attack DMG is increased by 16% and Elemental Skill DMG is increased by 24%. After a nearby active character deals Geo DMG, the aforementioned effects increase by 100% for 15s. Additionally, the wielder's DEF is increased by 20%. |
| Harbinger of Dawn | 3-star (F2P) | Base ATK: 401 Bonus Stat: CRIT DMG+46.9% Skill Effect: Vigorous When HP is above 90%, increases CRIT Rate by 14%. |
| Flute of Ezpital | 4-star (Craftable) | Base ATK: 454 Bonus Stat: DEF+69.0% Skill Effect: Smoke-and-Mirror Mystery Using an Elemental Skill increases DEF by 16% for 15s. |
Best teams
Given that Zibai is the first character to make full use of the new Lunar-Crystallize reaction, her position in the game does have its glaring drawbacks.
For one, the game still has only a few Moon Wheel characters in its roster to flesh out reliable teams, making it so that other Moon Wheel characters are either fighting for similar supports in their team compositions, or foregoing the buffs Nascent and Ascendant Gleam can give by recruiting characters that do not have Moon Wheels.
Additionally, since Zibai is essentially pioneering the Lunar-Crystallize reaction, she is fully restricted to a team composed of only Geo and Hydro characters. Sadly, there is no viable free-to-play team for Zibai.
Premium:
| SUB-DPS/SUPPORT | SUPPORT | SUPPORT |
|---|---|---|
| Columbina | Gorou | Illuga |
This team composition fully plays to Zibai's needs and strengths. Columbina buffs Lunar Reactions, while also dishing out supportive Hydro DMG to trigger Lunar-Crystallize. Gorou, especially with constellations, can provide DEF increases and supplemental healing when the need arises. Illuga, on the other hand, is tailor-made for Zibai, as he provides a significant increase in Lunar-Crystallize DMG.
Alternative:
| SUB-DPS/SUPPORT | SUPPORT | SUPPORT |
|---|---|---|
| Ineffa | Aino | Illuga/Albedo/Gorou |
This team composition makes use of two Lunar reactions: Lunar-Charged and Lunar-Crystallize. Ineffa can still play a significant support role and dish out pretty good damage, while Aino acts as the driver for both reactions. Illuga can be swapped out for Gorou or Albedo–the latter providing Elemental Mastery buffs if needed.
