Persona 5: The Phantom X is a spin-off gacha game launching this summer.
Publishers Atlus and Sega, along with developer Perfect World, have announced a global release date for Persona 5: The Phantom X. The spin-off gacha game has remained in beta in select regions for over a year now, but fans worldwide will soon be able to get their hands on it at long last. The game is now also available for pre-registration.

Persona 5: The Phantom X announced for June 2025 launch
Persona 5: The Phantom X is officially launching worldwide. The free-to-play gacha game will soon launch on iOS, Android, and PC on 26 June, with pre-registrations now open on all platforms. However, there is a caveat to this global release: The Phantom X will not be available in multiple SEA regions, including Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, and more upon its release on 26 June. You can view the game’s full list of unavailable regions on SteamDB here.
The game shares multiple staff members with the development team of Persona 5, including its project supervisor Kazuhisa Wada, artist Shigenori Soejima, and Ryota Kozuka. The latter composed the game’s main theme with Lyn.
Don’t mistake this game to be a straightforward adaptation of Persona 5, however. While The Phantom X shares the same setting (modern-day Tokyo) and multiple gameplay elements as Persona 5, its story and protagonist differ greatly. Instead of controlling Ren Amamiya, AKA Joker, players will step into the shoes of a new character named Wonder.
Seeing as this is a gacha game, don’t expect all of Persona 5’s cast to be readily available as Confidants. Players will have to pull them instead, along with their signature weapons, in regularly-released banners. The game will also be launched in both Japanese and English simultaneously.
Other aspects of the game remain par for the course for the Persona franchise: this is still a turn-based video game, and players will increase Wonder’s social stats while raising Confidant ranks. Wonder becomes a Phantom Thief in this game, and links up with new characters Motoha Arai, Shun Kano, and Riko Tanemura.
While a few Persona 5 and Persona 3 characters were added to The Phantom X during its beta, the game boasts a massive cast of original characters on its own. This is also the fourth Persona 5 spin-off game released to date, following Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, Persona 5 Strikers, and Persona 5 Tactica.
