The post TI10 shuffle reaches the tier one European scene as Ludwig "zai" Wåhlberg bids farewell to Team Secret to pursue new opportunities.
The International 10 brought the best placement at the pinnacle Dota 2 event for Team Secret, who finished third after losing the lower bracket finals to the unstoppable Team Spirit. Nonetheless, roster changes are now upon Team Secret, who for the past couple of years have been the undeniable top team in Europe.
“I’d like to thank my teammates and coach for making these past 3 years some of the best years I’ve had playing Dota,” Ludwig "zai" Wåhlberg said in his goodbye, as he announced he is heading “in a new direction.”
Zai joined Team Secret for the second time in December 2018 and claimed 12 tournament titles during this second tenure under Clement "Puppey" Ivanov’s captainship. Through the 2020 online period forced by the coronavirus, Team Secret claimed seven titles in a row by sweeping all seven grand finals with clean 2-0s. Their unmatched performance got them the Esports Awards recognition and put them in everyone’s book as main favourites at The International 10.
Although TI10 didn’t end with an Aegis for Team Secret, their run is still the best to date and one to remember for all their fans.
It is a sad moment, but I have to accept that all good things come to an end. I have nothing but love for this man, not only is he an amazing and persistent teammate, he is also a great friend. No matter where you go and what you do, I am sure you’ll find success. I wish you nothing but the best.
