DPC 2021 Season 2 week 6; Make or break time for teams

The last week of DPC 2021 Season 2 is upon us and that means deciding games to determine which teams will be headed to WePlay AniMajor in Ukraine.

Things are certainly heating up in Dota 2 and it is not just from the approach of summer.

So far, Alliance, Virtus.pro, Team Spirit, Team Aster, and NoPing Esports have secured their spot at the upcoming AniMajor. Some teams have already been relegated to the lower brackets. But the majority of teams need to pull up their big boy pants this week as the pressure mounts.

Here's a quick look at what is on the line and for who this last week across the regions.

Europe

Alliance is not only headed to the AniMajor, but they have secured their place in the playoffs already. However, the remaining spots are still up for grabs in Europe with tight races and some very interesting and potential upsets on the horizon. There is a chance that Team Secret and/or OG won't see the Major and that Brame will become one of our favorite underdogs in Ukraine. Every game in Europe this week feels like it can have a huge impact on the outcomes.

Europe East

Team Spirit had a surprisingly great run this season and secured their spot in the group stage of AniMajor. Virtus.pro came out on top and is headed to the playoffs. That means there is still one spot open for the Wild Card slot and Na'Vi, AS Monaco Gambit, and Team Unique are vying for it. Gambit and Team Unique will face off against each other while Na'Vi takes on PuckChamp.

China

Team Aster has secured a spot at the major, although which spot that will be is still yet to be determined. China is such a hot spot for major contention right now that only Sparklng Arrow Gaming has been relegated to the lower division and most likely RNG will not find a place at the Major (although they are NOT out of the running). That means six teams are still fighting for four spots and there are only four series left to play this week.

Southeast Asia

Not one team has clinched their spot in the AniMajor for SEA. Three teams are tied for first with 4:2 records (Fnatic, T1, TNC Predator) but Execration and Neon are right on their tails. All five teams need to play this week and that means there is a lot of pressure and intense games scheduled.

North America

Quincy Crew took a big win over EG last night and keep their series record at 6:0 (12:1 games). They are sitting in the first place but both EG and Undying are right on their heels. EG already qualified for TI with enough points, but there IS a potential they can still miss the major. They share a 5:1 record with Undying (although they have the edge with an 11:2 games record). All three teams will still need to play this week with Quincy Crew facing off against Undying to end out the season.

South America

In South America, NoPing Esports claimed a spot already meaning that either beastcoast or Thunder Predator will NOT be attending. Both teams are close in points with beastcoast having the slight edge with a 5:1 series (11:3 games) record over TP with a 5:2 series (12:6 games) record. Thunder Predator won't be playing this week and will need to sit on the sidelines as their fate is decided. beastcoast will face off against NoPing and need to win the series to secure their spot.
