The public figure addressed his personal struggles in a livestream shortly before his death.
Malaysian entrepreneur and prominent local ACG (Anime, Comics and Games) figure Solomon Looi, also known by his online persona Solomon Freeman, was found dead early on 15 September after falling from a 20-storey building in Kepong, China Press reported.
Investigations have so far found no suicide note. However, Solomon had gone live on Facebook roughly 30 minutes before his death, during which he spoke about ending his life. He had also left a “Good bye” post on his account mere moments before.
The livestream touched upon several of his personal struggles, including his 2021 defamation court case which had opened allegations of sexual misconduct, physical abuse, and more involving his former partners and other women in the community.

Solomon’s final public appearance came at around 3am on 15 September, when he went live on Facebook to discuss the struggles that led him to his breaking point.
During the livestream, Solomon said that despite having his name cleared in court proceedings, he never fully recovered from the damage to his reputation. He expressed frustration that negative posts about him received significant attention, while his own attempts to provide clarification received little engagement.
He then discussed his financial and relationship issues, claiming that he had helped “thousands of girls” by sponsoring their college tuition fees, but some later disappeared from his life. He also alleged that his current partner, whom he had financially supported, had cheated on him.
He said, “Today, tonight, now, is my breaking point… Sorry to everyone who looked up to me but I don’t see the point of living anymore.”
The ACG community mourned his death, with many paying tribute to the public figure for his contributions to Malaysia’s cosplay scene and various events. He was also known for helping foreign cosplayers return home following a raid incident in 2019.
HobbyCon, a Kota Kinabalu-based convention for hobbyists, shared a tribute for Solomon:
“He was a friend & even a mentor to a lot of things that we did not know what to do. He is a giver. He is generous in his givings & sharing. Thank you for the time you took care of the Hobbycon Team... Your words of wisdom, guidance & your inspiration to us. On behalf of Hobbycon. Thank you Solomon Freeman. You are now free.
