A strange PlayStation Store listing from earlier this year is suddenly worth another look.
Some PlayStation Store users are being offered Wallet Credits on selected game purchases, despite Sony not announcing any new rewards programme. The promotion was spotted by PlayStation Lifestyle after Reddit user JannJans shared what they found while trying to buy The Blood of Dawnwalker from the PlayStation Store. On the game's store page, they were shown a message saying that purchasing it would come with US$10 in Wallet Credit.
JannJans initially posted the offer because they had not seen the reward before and were unsure what it was tied to. After going through with the purchase, they later confirmed that the US$10 credit was added to their PlayStation account immediately.
Sony has yet to announce the promotion or explain how Wallet Credits are being distributed.
Which PlayStation Store games are offering Wallet Credits?
The Blood of Dawnwalker does not appear to be the only game involved. Players in the same Reddit thread reported spotting Wallet Credit promotions on titles including Halloween: The Game, Star Wars Zero Company, MGS Collection 2, Resonance: A Plague Tale, and Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush.
However, the offers do not appear to be identical across accounts. Some users in the same region said they had also purchased The Blood of Dawnwalker and Halloween: The Game but received no Wallet Credit reward.
That makes it unclear whether Sony is testing the feature with selected accounts, gradually rolling it out, or using another set of requirements to determine who receives the offers. Sony has not published any eligibility rules, list of participating games, or details on how long the promotion will run.
What is the PlayStation Wallet Credits app?
The Wallet Credit name actually surfaced on the PlayStation Store months before players started reporting rewards from game purchases.
In late January, Reddit users spotted a new Wallet Credits listing published by Sony Interactive Entertainment on the PlayStation Store. The page could be added to a wishlist, but it offered no description explaining what Wallet Credits were or what the listing was meant to do.
PlayStation Lifestyle reported on the listing in February, noting that it had appeared across multiple regional PlayStation Stores. It was marked as "Announced", while its release date was listed only as "to be determined". The official PlayStation Store page remains available and continues to list Sony Interactive Entertainment as its publisher.
Later that month, some Reddit users also reported that adding Wallet Credits to their wishlist appeared to cause issues with the wishlist section of the PlayStation app. Removing the listing reportedly fixed the problem for affected users. At the time, however, there was still no indication of what Wallet Credits would eventually be used for. That lack of information also led some Reddit users to speculate that Wallet Credits could be a replacement for PlayStation Stars, which Sony discontinued in 2025. The company never confirmed that theory or announced Wallet Credits as a successor to the loyalty programme.
Sony has yet to officially explain what Wallet Credits are or whether they are part of a wider rewards programme.
