The prestigious Western competition Dota2 Champions League is back for its fifth season, with a similar format and a $50,000 base prizepool. Much like the previous season, one Chinese and three European teams will advance to the LAN playoffs, through the extensive online round-robin qualifiers.
One of the most exciting tournaments of the Western DotA2 scene, D2CL, is back for its fifth season. Starting next week, eight top-tier European participants will battle for a spot in the tournament's LAN finals, and the chance to get their hands on the $50,000+ prizepool. Much like the previous season, a Chinese division is also planned, and the winner will join the European teams in the offline playoffs.
Current list of invited teams :
Natus Vincere (defending champion)
Ninjas in Pyjamas
Alliance
HellRaisers
Meepwn'd
Virtus.pro
Power Rangers
The tournament will have the same format as always - the European teams will be placed in a big round-robin group, and they will face each other in best-of-three matches. The top-three teams will advance to LAN, where they will meet the Chinese winner. More details on the Chinese division will be announced soon (the fourth season's Chinese division was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts).
Live broadcasting of the matches will be provided by joinDOTA in English. It should be noted that the games will be streamed on TwitchTV instead of DailyMotion. A DotaTV ticket will also be available, and each sale will boost the tournament's total prizepool. For more information regarding D2CL, check out the tournament's official website here.
