The Premier League V with a slight twist in format

The Premier League released more information on their fifth season today and they will be moving away from their traditional round robin format. The qualifying cup system will be employed to replace the old format and top teams such as Alliance and Virtus.Pro will be among the teams participating this season.

After four season of running the Round Robin to a playoffs format, The Premier League has switched their tournament layout and teams will now have to compete in seven qualifying cups to accummulate enough points to make it into the playoffs.

The top four placers in points at the end of the seventh cup will move onto the playoffs in which teams will stand a chance to win a piece of the $15,500 prize pool.

1st place: 100 points
2nd place: 50 points
3rd place: 30 points
4th place: 18 points

The first cup, termed the Demon Edge Cup will begin on the 20th of May and the qualifying cup stage will end by the 20th of July. The playoffs will run for two days from the 20th of July to the 21st.

The English stream of The Premier League will be provided by David 'Blaze' Dillon and David 'Triumph' Rutter on The Premier League Twitch channel. You can also buy TPL's DotaTV ticket in Dota 2 store for $11.99. The DotaTV ticket will come together with an in-game Queen of Pain set.

The best player of the fifth season of The Premier League will receive an additional $500 on top of their winnings.
