PGL Wallachia Season 2 Survival Guide; Teams, format, prize pool and more

PGL Wallachia Season 2 is about to kick off with 16 teams competing for the lion's share of the $1 Million prize pool. Here's all the details you need to know. 

PGL Wallachia Season 2 is the first post-TI event of the season. It is also the second event planned in a three-year plan from PGL that includes eight Dota 2 tournaments -- each with one million dollars on the line to be held across 2024, 2025, and 2026.

Originally, a total of 10 teams received direct invites to the event based on their performances early in the year at various other tournaments. Regional qualifier winners filled the remaining six slots. It was a surprising and risky move to finalize teams prior to The International and the Post-TI shuffle.

Ultimately, six teams had to withdraw from the competition and be replaced. Fans will notice a few interesting things. The defending champions Team Spirit , who claimed their first title of the year at Season 1, will not be on hand. TI2024 champions, Team Liquid withdrew from the competition and there are no SEA representatives. But we do have four South American and two North American teams!

Nonetheless, the event kicks off tomorrow with a fully stacked lineup with teams vying for the lion's share of the prize pool and to show off their new rosters.

PGL Wallachia Season 2 Format

PGL will be hosting the whole event at their studios in Bucharest, Romania, from October 4th through October 13th with no live audience. The 16 teams will start the competition in a modified "Swiss System" group stage that will feature five rounds of best-of-three series.
