PGL Major Antwerp: Dates, format, and qualifiers announced

Important information of the first Major of 2022 was shared online.

The first CS:GO Major of 2022 – PGL Major Antwerp – will be happening from 9-22 May 2022, and will be the first Major ever in Belgium. The competition will see the best 24 teams from all over the world play at the Valve-sponsored event, run by PGL – the same organisation that organised the 2021 Stockholm Major. There will be a $1,000,000 prize pool up for grabs.

The 24 teams will be qualifying through Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournaments with no guaranteed spot at Antwerp. This includes NAVI, the winner of the last Major and currently the best team of 2021.

Tournament Details

PGL Major Antwerp will be divided into three stages – Challengers, Legends and Champions – mirroring the last Major in Stockholm. The first two stages will be played behind closed doors in a studio environment.

Champions will be played at the 18,000-seat Antwerps Sportpaleis in front of an audience. This will be the first ever Major to be hosted in Belgium.

We are glad to have the opportunity to bring back the fans and players together for another CS:GO Major. Belgium has an impressive Counter-Strike fanbase, and many legendary players were born in this country. We are ready to offer an incredible experience for the fans inside the arena and the passionate viewers at home.- Silviu Stroie, PGL CEO

The schedule of the tournament is as follows:

  • Challengers Stage - May 9-12.
  • Legends Stage - May 14-17.
  • Champions Stage - May 19-22.
