Natus Vincere is the winner of PGL Major Stockholm 2021

The grand final of the first Major in two years delivered all the excitement, and then some.

After waiting patiently for 24 months, fans of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive were finally treated to an explosive LAN event. The PGL Major Stockholm, held at the Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, is the first Major in two years for CS:GO. The tournament ended with a great sportsmanship between the two grand finalists, for the entertainment of all the fans.

The two teams that made it to the grand finals have proven themselves as the best teams right now in CS:GO. Natus Vincere, also known as Na’Vi and G2 Esports waltz into the Avicii Arena full of hope, and anticipation for their eventual win of the Major, as well as the crown as the best team in CS:GO for 2021.

Two maps were played – Ancient and Nuke. G2 played as a good opposition to Na’Vi as they battled each other on the map. In round 20, both teams tied 10-10, but Na’Vi then pushed a bit harder and won several rounds back-to-back. Even with the nexa & AmaNEk clutch to turn the favour towards G2. But names like electronic, s1mple and b1t meant that Na’Vi was too strong in their gameplay and the team won the round 16-11.

In the second map Nuke, G2 worked as hard as they possibly can to keep themselves in the grand final as they continued their campaign. But Na’Vi is the master of comebacks, as they went from 15-10 in round 25 to a tie at the end of round 30, pushing the map to extended time.

While G2 was strong, Na’Vi was stronger as the latter managed to win 7 out of the 11 extended rounds, which gave them the win 22-19, and the win of the Grand Final.

Natus Vincere won the match 2-0, and the Major Stockholm 2021 championship.

The team won the prize money of $1,000,000 and the championship trophy. G2 meanwhile walked away with $300,000 themselves.

This is the third win by Na’Vi over G2 in three consecutive major LAN events – IEM Katowice 2020, IEM Cologne 2021 and now PGL Major Stockholm 2021. Na’Vi also became the only team in the tournament that did not drop a single map to their opponent.

S1mple was the best player in the grand finals, spearheading or involved in the majority of the winning battles in the two maps, while rookie b1t not only scored many clutches and battles but also his first Major championship in his first outing to a major CS:GO tournament. This is also s1mple’s first Major trophy.
