Valve accidentally removed CS:GO from Steam lineup

The game is now back on the platform, but no one knows why the game was removed

A short burst of fear was felt by CS:GO players around the world as the game was removed from the Steam library of games for a short period of time. When players tried to search for the game in their library, an error instead appears saying that the game is not available in their region.

As of press time, the game is back on Steam so players can actually get back on matches. The reason of the removal is still yet to be determined – but speculation is running rampant with theories on CS:GO2 all the way to inclusion of the game into the Half Life: Alyx VR game.

Counter Strike was build on the original Half Life engine, with the Global Edition built upon the Counter Strike: Source engine.

It has since seen a massive uptake in the esports arena as the premier game for tournaments, competition and showcases around the world – and it is still the preferred choice for many reviewers for benchmarking new PCs or gaming systems.

As of January 2021, CS:GO sees a peak concurrent players of 1.167 million, and a daily average of over 741,000 players, according to steamcharts.com.
