HTC 2v2 Invitational - G2 Esports duo victorious

G2 Esports are crowned Champions of the HTC 2v2 Invitational, after Kenny "KennyS" Schrub and Richard "shox" Papillon defeated the North duo in the grand final.

France G2 Esports secure their second consecutive HTC Invitational title after Frenchmen Kenny "KennyS" Schrub and Richard "shox" Papillon managed to overcome all opposition and secure a victory in the grand final. Spoils included bragging rights as two time Champions, in addition to pocketing a decent $20,000 cash prize.

Initially the Frenchmen got off to a shaky start, losing their first match-up against the Turkish side of Turkey Space Soldiers with a flawless 0-2. Next on the chopping board for G2 were compatriots and former teammates France Team EnVyUs, which the duo made quick work of at a 2-0 of their own. Finally to make it out of the group stage KennyS and shox would have to face the two members of Denmark Heroic. Fortunately for the Frenchmen, the Danes were unable to pose a threat, allowing the duo to secure their second consecutive 2-0 swipe. As for the play-offs, G2's first opponents were Håvard "rain" Nygaard and Nikola "NiKo" Kova? of Europe FaZe Clan who, rather surprisingly, were unable to secure a third map at the very least, allowing the French duo immediate access to the winners' finals. The Denmark North duo of René "cajunb" Borg and Philip "aizy" Aistrup were their opponents for a placement in the finals, and also the first team to take G2 to three maps. In what proved to be quite a close match, seeing an overtime, shox and KennyS persevered, landing the duo a placement in the finals. After dropping to the losers' finals, North were able to overcome the Space Soldiers duo, once again to face the Frenchmen, this time in the grand final. Despite securing a victory off the bat, due to the fact that the team was hailing from the losers' bracket the Danes needed two Bo3 victories in order to grab the invitational title. A convincing victory from the Danes was followed by a loss that subsequent mean G2 Esports had secured their second consecutive HTC Invitational title.
