DreamHack Open: Austin 2017 - Luminosity Gaming finalise participants list

Brazilian side Luminosity Gaming defeated CLG in the grand finals of the North American closed qualifier, securing a placement at the LAN finals of DreamHack Open: Austin 2017.

At the end of April, eight teams will gather in Austin, Texas to battle for the DreamHack Open: Austin 2017 trophy and the lion's share of $100,000 prize pool. DreamHack announced six invited teams prior to the regional qualifiers. In Europe, it was Europe HellRaisers who qualified through the European closed qualifier. The other regional qualifier, the North American qualifiers, saw the Brazilians of Brazil Luminosity Gaming prevail against likes of Misfits, compLexity, CLG and NRG.

The NA qualifiers kicked-off with eight teams. In the quarter-finals, Luminosity faced compLexity and barely overcame the tough opposition 2-1 after an intense de_Inferno that went into overtime. Luminosity's semi-final opponent was Sean "sg@res" Gares' United States Misfits. After losing the first map 16-14, Gustavo "SHOOWTiME" Gonçalves and co. secured comfortable victories in the remainder of the maps and advanced to the final with a 2-1 score line.

The final of the qualifier set Luminosity against United States CLG who bested Rush and United States NRG eSports in the previous rounds. First map was CLG's pick, de_Overpass, but Luminosity Gaming, backed by a solid first half as the CT side, secured the victory 16-12 and made the series score 1-0. As the map changed to de_Cobblestone, so did CLG's play, in a better way. Stephen "reltuC" Cutler starred in de_Cobblestone and CLG, after double-overtime, managed to even the series score. De_Inferno was played as the decider map and at half-time, Luminosity Gaming were up 12-3. Despite an impressive attempt at a comeback which saw CLG melting the gap to just one round, Luminosity managed to steal the victory 16-13 and qualified for the LAN finals of DreamHack Open: Austin 2017.

With Luminosity securing their spot, the final team list for the $100.000 event looks like:
