The next installment of Dreamhack Masters will take place in Las Vegas, between February 15th through the 19th, featuring 16 teams, who will battle for the bulk of a $450,000 dollar prize purse.
Of those 16 teams, 8 have been invited, while the final 8 will be decided through a qualification process, that will take place during January. As of 21 December, the eight invitees have been decided, which include ex-Dignitas, Virtus.Pro, Cloud 9, SK Gaming, Optic Gaming, Natus Vincere, Astralis, and Ninjas in Pyjamas. Nearly all of these teams have just ended their 2016 with runs at ECS, ELEAGUE, and the ELEAGUE Major Qualifier. The invitee lineup is filled with champions, fallen angels, and newly awoken giants.
For the remaining eight teams to be decided, there will be a series of qualifiers. One qualification spot has already been filled by Chinese juggernauts, Tyloo, while the last seven will be made up of three North American teams and four European teams. The European qualifier will take place on 9 January, featuring 16 teams. The North American qualifier will take place on 14 January, to determine two of the three spots, while on the 15th, there will be a decider match to account for the final participant.
