RCTIC dominate on their way to victory at Nordic Masters Season 2
Over the weekend 16 Nordic teams battled out on LAN in Älmhult, Sweden for a combined prizepool of 122,500 SEK(~$14,500) and the glory of being Nordic Champion. The competition featured such teams as DenDD, Torpedo, Publiclir.se and the freshly-acquired Preparation(ex-fan jävla) team. The tournament also featured two female teams in LGB eSports female and Property female. The female teams had very little success playing at the tournament and both were eliminated in the group stage without winning a map.
Despite not being the favorites it was Finnish team RCTIC eSports, that came out of the weekend as the eventual winners and took home the first place prize of 70 000 SEK(~$8,260). RCTIC wasn't even scheduled to compete at event, but had to replace Copenhagen Wolves, since Lukas 'gla1ve' Rossander suffered a collapsed lung at the Assembly Winter 2016 and could not attend the tournament.
The team had a dominate showing at the event dropping only one map in the entire tournament on their way to victory, and ultimately winning the grand final straight in two maps against Norwegian team BX3. The first map was de_mirage which ended in a 16-6 victory for RCTIC, the second map, de_dust2, followed in a similar fashion and RCTIC clinched the win with a dominant 16-5 scoreline.
Not only did they win the tournament, but Lasse 'ZOREE' Uronen also picked up the MVP award for the tournament. ZOREE, who had an unbelievable grand final, finished +30 in K/D(49/19) over the two maps.
