Coming to the finals with one a map deficit, Gplay have managed to win three consecutive maps to claim the title and grand prize of 1,000 EUR.
The Romexpo in Bucharest, Romania was the venue of the first season of ESL South East Europe Championship. The top four teams of the group stage came to the LAN finals to battle out for the grand prize of 1,000 EUR and the bragging rights in the region.
The teams were placed into a double-elimination bracket where in the opening match Hungarian team ROCK managed to defeat Gplay 2-1 to send them to the lower bracket. In the second semi-finals match we saw Turkish representatives Space Soldiers taking on a home team, XPC. Space Soldiers were better with 2-1 and they moved on to the winners finals.
Space Soldiers didn't struggle much in the winners finals match where they easily defeated Team Rock 2-0 to secure their spot in the grand finals. The other finalist had to work their way through the lower bracket, winning both matches with the score of 2-0. XPC and ROCK both fell under the hands of Bulgarian players who were showing very good performance during the second day of the tournament. Full of confidence, Gplay came to the grand finals with a one map deficit as Space Soldiers were given an advantage due to coming from the upper bracket. However, this didn't shake their confidence and chemistry as the Bulgarian squad crushed Space Soldiers in a very convincing fashion 3-1.
