
The Electronic Sports League has announced a new tournament, the ESL UK Premiership, which will be held in London and include a £12,000 prize pool.
The ESL UK premiership will be the first tournament of the year for the UK, spanning from the 2nd of March until the 26th of July. and will include three qualifier events which will last for two days, allowing up to 64 teams to try to earn a place in the group stages. The top two teams from each qualifier will be promoted into one of two group stages, which will be played in a GSL double-elimination format. Eight teams fight for only four spots in order to progress from the group stages to the main event, which will be LAN finals held at London's MCM Comic Con. The four teams who manage to get to the LAN finals will have earned a part of a £5,000 prize pool.
The UK Premiership will be the largest esport competition held in the UK to date and is a clear sign of the growth the CS:GO esport scene is witnessing world-wide.
