ESL Pro League Season 3 - Week 6 recap

FlipSid3 showed up strong this week as you will see, and Cloud9 have certainly proved themselves able to compete again in their domestic matchups. Read on to find out who performed this week and who did not.
Cloud9 are finally at the point at which they are able to deliver on a consistent level, and taking out NRG eSports twice have acquired another six points to further advance in the season standings. Unfortunately, compLexity could not follow this up, as Winterfox stole two straight maps. Interestingly, coL had a combined KDR of 1.15 on Dust2 whilst Winterfox fell below 1. This really goes to show that good strats and planned-out setups can compensate for missing kills, since compLexity had the upper hand fragging-wise by far, but was still unable to win that match. These statistics came closer to each other on the second map, but still coL was better overall despite having to give up Overpass.

FlipSid3 had to trade blows with SK as they literally traded maps, each team being able to acquire a win. mousesports had a really hard time, especially Nikola "NiKo" Kovac, who usually performs as the hard-carry for the team. Despite being able to fight back from a huge deficit, they were unable to deliver in overtime. As dignitas had gained yet more confidence they made it a 2-0 for the night in taking mouz out over on Inferno, with Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke able to go stellar on both maps.

Selfless are gaining confidence again with their new line-up, and in taking out the formerly dominant OpTic they have certainly proven that their new roster is not to be underestimated. Renegades have shown their capabilities as well and it does not look that great for Splyce, who will have to take on fnatic at the major. NRG are slowly catching up to the rest and with some good maps they could certainly boost themselves into the top four of their region.

FlipSid3 have shown up strong before the major already. Getting so close to fnatic is something not many teams can achieve, and it was certainly due to their performance more than just fnatic playing poorly. NiP did the same in taking out Astralis by an embarrassing score lines. On Cache NiP even led 10-0 at one point. Sadly, their performance might be impacted negatively by Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi being unable to play at the major.

ex-AGG, or by now KKona, have never been a hot contender in the ESL Pro League or in NA Counter-Strike generally, so the first score line is a little bit surprising. Maybe LG were sleeping a bit, as they have shown up again for the second map and simply crushed their inferior opposition. Cloud9 have finally reached the second spot in the standings with the four wins they collected only this week.
