The Taiwanese Zerg King Yang "SEn" Chia Cheng experienced an emotional victory over Chinese Protoss Xiang "MacSed" Hu in the ECL 2013 grand finals. SEn will take home $10,000 which is his second first place prize in two months.
2013 was a successful year for the renowned Zerg player. Staying mostly in Asia and not travelling abroad for WCS America and MLG, SEn continued to be a household name on his local scene and ruled TeSL, finishing first in half season #1 and second in half season #2. A top four finish in StarsWar League Season 3 and a gold from TeSL 2013-2014 further cemented his position as one of the best non-Koreans in Asia.
As 2014 began, SEn was given a chance for another championship as he made it into ECL 2013, a tournament that featured a number of top Chinese players as well as established Korean pros like MMA and Supernova. $18,000 prize pool was on the line.
SEn finished the group stage with 3-2 that was enough to promote him into the playoffs. From there, he went on undefeated: the Taiwanese went through Chinese Protoss Gemini, compatriot Has and 2013 WCS America Premier League participants Jim and MacSed with 2-0, 2-1, 2-1 and 2-1 to be crowned ECL king.
SEn will get another shot at taking a championship in just a few days ago. On January 10th, SEn is playing Has again for a place at TeSL 13-14 Seson 2 grand final. The winner of the two will play San, while the loser drops down to the 3rd place decider to play TRUE.
