Western Wolves cease operations

The European organization Western Wolves is shutting down doors after two years since it was founded. This leaves players like Check, Daisy and StarNaN teamless and in search for a new home.

Western Wolves was founded in January 2012 after management and progaming crew parted from Low Land Lions to build a new brand. At the time of the creation, Western Wolves hosted seven different teams in various categories, but it was some time before a StarCraft 2 division opened.

In March, American Terran player Spades was signed as the only SC2 player for Western Wolves after winning Academy Cup but he had to part ways with the organization in June following maphacking allegations. Later the same month, the team revealed their new, all-foreign roster, consisting of Ziktomini, SortOf, StarNaN, Fargo and Miniraiser. WW's first Korean, Sting, was signed in November of the same year.

The Wolves continued to acquire players in 2013 and aim for team league success. Morrow was signed in January, with Arthur and Daisy joining in March. The former would later leave alongside SortOf but Western Wolves kept their roster fresh by contracting former KeSPA player Check. Check would later become the most valuable player of the team as he was the main reason behind Western Wolves' surprising performance in TeamStory Cup 2 where they placed fourth.

It was announced today, that the team will shut doors effective December 31st of this year. The disbandment leaves five StarCraft 2 players teamless as well as several FIFA and Fighting games professionals. No particular reason is given, just a farewell message.
