Team Acer win TeamStory Cup 2

The green crew dropped just one game in the grand final against Axiom to snatch the $10,000 of TeamStory Cup. MMA proved to be MVP of the team after winning a total of ten maps in three series that Acer played.

After Axiom and Acer won the most recent GSTL together, today they stood as opponents.

Acer came into the playoffs as the number one seed, having played an extremely strong regular season, finishing the group stage 8-1 in series and at +23 map indicator. With GSTL momentum on their side and regarded as the favorites to win the entire tournament, the green squad stormed Krefeld for an equally dominating showing. Their semi-final match against Liquid ended up being an MMA all-kill as the Korean took out Snute, Ret, TLO and Taeja twice to make for an impressive opener. In the winners final, Acer met their former partners of Axiom and this time waged a nine-game war before advancing to the grand final.

Down in the losers bracket, Axiom prepared to make a stand against Team Liquid for the right to play at the final match. Their newest recruit Impact was sent out first and what seemed to be just a move to test the waters turned into the second all-kill that Liquid would suffer that weekend.

The Axiom-Acer rematch was a much shorter affair compared to the winners final face off. Innovation put Acer up by a pair after beating Impact and Ryung. After he was stopped by Crank, Innovation passed the baton to fellow Terran MMA who finished the job with an elegant three kill, becoming the player to win most games this weekend.

After two silver medals at the first season of TeamStory Cup (3-5 MVP) and StarCraft 2 League (1-4 Liquid), Acer finally win their first championship (excluding the AXA partnership that won GSTL). Their prize is $10,000, while Axiom will bring home $5,000. Third and fourth place finishers Liquid and Western Wolves bank $3,000 and $2,000, respectively.
