The Tyrant will play at the WCS Grand Finals against sOs for the chance to grab his first gold medal in StarCraft 2 and take home a $100,000 cheque.
With four silver medals from his four grand final appearances - including two DreamHacks and two WCS tournaments - Jaedong will try to come out champion for a fifth time this year. EG's Zerg will have to go through Woongjin's sOs before he's crowned though and a Best of 7 grand final is upcoming.
It was Maru that Jaedong had to eliminate on his way to the final stage. A 10-pool opening in game one and another zerg/bane composition put Jaedong up by a pair and on Bel'Shir Vestige the Tyrant was already sitting on a match point. A marine/mine parade push by Maru was able to put the Terran back in the game, however, and a fourth game on Frost had to be played.
Aggressive ling/roach attacks were Jaedong's weapon of choice this time around and the BroodWar legend pressured Maru into starvation, locking him into his side of the map while taking the entire upper half of Frost himself. Maru was able to engineer a sort of a comeback through a series of marine raids and eventually the game transcended into a base elimination scenario. Being spread all across the map and commanding a high dps army of ultralisks and mutalisks, Jaedong easily won the race and moved on the contest the $100,000 first place prize.
