Polt, Jaedong the first eliminated from Season 3 finals

The only player to win two WCS champions - CMStorm's Polt - took a 1-2 loss from Soulkey and departed from the Season 3 finals. He was followed by EG's Jaedong who fell to MMA after a dramatic game two on Derelict Watcher.

Having lost to Hack and MC, respectively, Polt and Soulkey gave a start to day two of the Season 3 grand finals in Toronto, Canada. Champions of their respective circuits circuits, the Woongjin Zerg and CMStorm's Terran engaged in a spectacular three-game series to determine who will be the first to drop out of the tournament.

Soulkey took the first game on Bel'Shir Vestige but Polt was quick on the equalizer and brough it to 1-1 on Polar Night with a strong and solid Terran play. A final third game had to be played and Derelict Watcher was chosen for this purpose. The opponents played a standard ZvT, with 4M on Polt's side and bane/muta on Soulkey's, creating a tug of war familiar to any StarCraft 2 fan. The, at the 26th minute, Soulkey's massive switch into ultralisks came to catch Polt unprepared. Kaiser Blades next to its throat, Polt's army was shortlived. The Season 1 Korean champion kept his playoffs hopes alive.

Way tenser was the game between MMA and Jaedong. Set one on Frost went easily into MMA's favor on the back of the aforementioned 4M aggression but it would be one whole our before set two saw its victor. Once again, MMA dictated the mid game and shoved Jaedong into a 50 supply deficit but an ultra switch came to dramatically swing the tables. Suddenly up 140 supply to MMA's 50, Jaedong established full map control as well as a solid three-base economy and was ready to tie the series.

His only problem was MMA's massive fortification around his only mining base. Hiding behind artificial choke points, MMA MULE'd hard and rebuilt his army to a point it could safely walk out on the map and pick engagements. Decisively storming one of Jaedong's bases was the turning point for the Terran as his flock of medivacs allowed him to live even through the fungal/ultralisk combo of the Zerg and put him in a massive disadvantage once again. This time lacking the economy to make a miracle comeback, Jaedong tapped out and followed Polt out of Season 3.
