WCS Season 3 Finals day one filled with upsets

Group A

The first to advance the quarter finals was MC, who defeated Hack 2-1 in a fantastic series. In game three MC had one of the narrowest wins I have seen in a long time, with some fantastic clutch storms saving him from certain death, he managed to come back and take the game. Group A has overall had some excellent games with a few upsets as well, such as Hack defeating Polt 2-1 to start off the day even though Polt just a week ago became the first person to win back to back WCS championships. The matches tomorrow for this group will be Polt against Soulkey which will decide who goes on to face Hack for a chance to follow MC into the quarter finals.

Group B

Group B saw the triumph of another protoss player, Trap managed to advance on to the quarter finals after a cheese filled series against Genius. A series that was filled with Dark Templar rushes, Void-ray proxies , and cannon rushes, it was quite an interesting series for both players. In addition, Group B had its share of upsets with both MMA and Jaedong losing their first series. Tomorrow Jaedong and MMA will face eachother which will decide who goes on to face Genius and the victor of that series will join Trap in the quarter finals.

Group C

Group C was the most protoss heavy out of all of the groups with three out of the four players being protoss, Oz managed to upset Dear and advance into the quarter finals. Dear who finished 1st in WCS Korea to qualify for the WCS Championship, defeated HerO in the first round with an intriguing PvP series. The following matches between Dear and Oz involved macro games as well as numerous all-ins. There will be some exciting games tomorrow though as Vortix will face off against HerO, the winner will go on to face Dear. Which means there could be a potential rematch between HerO and Dear.

Group D

The final match of the day was the winners match between Maru and duckdeok, it was quite an interesting series considering the first game invloved a two barracks proxy. The final match Maru showed how deadily his drop play can be, just picking duckdeok apart throughout the match and taking a convicing win to advance on to the quarter finals. Earlier in the day duckdeok suprised nearly everyone when he crushed Byul 2-0, Byul who placed second in WCS America. Tomorrow's matches will have Byul facing soO which will be the first ZvZ of this tournament, the winner will go on to face duckdeok to take the final spot in the quarter finals.
