STX SouL disbands, Innovation officially joins acer

A few hours ago it was reported that STX Corporation will not keep surroting the StarCraft team STX SouL. Part of the players have already found new teams (Innovation), others will go through the posting process, while third will embrace retirement.

It was four months ago that we first reported about STX Corporation's financial troubles. The shipbuilding giant was reported to be in a debt of $2.2 billion, opting to sell assets to the Korean Development bank.

A recent editorial by Fomos.kr further discussed the financial troubles of the organization. At that time, it was already heavily rumored that STX SouL's main player Innovation will be switching teams for Acer due to the Korean team not able to sustain his salary, which led to further speculations about team's future. Fomos' author also hinted at possible disbandment coming with Innovation's transfer to the foreign team.

As of today, it is official that STX SouL is no more, Daily eSports report. It is said that the STX corporation was ready to continue sponsoring the team and that KeSPA would help find sub-sponsors in order to keep SouL running but the creditors rejected the suggestion and said sub-sponsors backed up as result.

Most of the team's players and coaches have their future decided already. Dear, Classic, Mini, Trap and Size have taken part in a secret posting process on August 28th and Classic was the first to get a new team in SK Telecom T1. Following the same process, Mini has decided to retire and the same is rumored for Zerg player Hyvaa. Additionally, coaches Calm and Park Jong Soo will star their military service while Innovation officially joins Team Acer.

As of the remaining players and coaching staff, they will be joining GSTL as team SouL, expecting to acquire new players like Hwangsin (currently of Quantic Gaming) and SSanaEE (ex-NS HoSeo). A new team house will also be opened by head coach of SouL Kim Min Gi and coach Choi Won Suk.

We will continue to follow the situation and provide you with updates.
