In an EG team-kill of a final match, Kim "Revival" Dong Hyun became the first champion of IEM's eighth season after blanking team-mate Kim "Oz" Hak Soo 4-0. Revival walks home $10,000 richer after the first premier gold of his career.
Revival's way to the playoffs included a hard-fought victory against recent MLG Spring champion Polt in the quarter finals and somewhat easier face-off against boss toss MC in the semi finals. This put him face to face with fellow EG player Oz, who had just beaten tournament favorite and WCS America S1 champion HerO in five games to make it to the final match.
Revival's dominance was undisputed. Spanning only four games and considered by the community to be an underwhelming conclusion to the Season VIII opener, the grand final ended quickly and awarded Revival the much deserved $10,000, leaving Oz with $4,000.
IEM's next stop for Season VIII is in New York, October 10-13, followed by IEM Singapore in the last weeks of 2013 in November 28th - December 1st.
