One more weekend left for GSTL, top 5 still undecided

FXOpen keep their tournament life and their chances to defend their two-times championship

No further disclosure comes to GSTL's rankings as the 4th to 6th places are still undecided after the penultimate week of games. The top five to advance to the playoffs will not be determined before July 5-6.

In the afternoon of June 28th, GSTL drop-outs NS HoSeo came out for their last match of the regular season to deliver an upset nobody thought possible, securing their second win altogether. After a series of one-sided losses that followed their first and until yesterday only victory against Prime in Week 6, NSHoSeo channeled the power of former GSL champion Jjakji and their new rising star MadBull to take on the #2 in the ranking Axiom-Acer.

Although this won't help their situation much, NS HoSeo will nevertheless not be finishing last in the standings, a prospect which looked more than plausible, having started the season with two 0-4 losses and then two more in the following weeks.

With a 2-4 score in series and having no additional chances after this one, FXOpen desperately needed a victory lest they lose the race to Azubu and StarTale, and to their luck they got it. By putting Gumiho, Hurricane and sC on the line, FXOpen punished Prime 4-2, pinned them down to last place and will await the last games from the regular season (played next weekend) before their fate is decided.

Azubu and StarTale will be playing in those matches, paired against the certain-to-advance MVP and Incredible Miracle, respectively. Although any win will qualify the former two for playoffs, a loss is almost not an option since the difference between them and FXOpen in points is diminutive.
