KeeN, YongHwa to Premier League, KeSPA players thinning out

The Up & Down matches of WCS Korea saw a deserved winner in KeeN, who will move on to Premier League next season alongside YongHwa. Group F also sent down sC in the dead last position as well as Crazy, the sole KeSPA player.

Group F presented itself as almost as a carbon of Group C from last Thursday, as the initial setup and the outcome are strikingly similar in nature. Each group consisted of two Protoss and two Terran players as well as a single Zerg who coincidentally was the sole KeSPA participant. Both times it ended in a three-way tie breaker, too, where a Terran had to face two Protoss players. But unlike last Thursday, it came down to the Terran pulling through and take the fast lane to the WCS Korea Premier League.

It was up to KeeN to found himself in the tie breaker series after being caught off guard by Avenge's Dark Templar attack on Akilon Wastes, despite impressively strong showings in his first three matches. The tactic was apparently inspired by YongHwa, who in turn used the same strategy to beat Avenge in their opening match of the day. While these three would later move on to battle it out between themselves, it was clear from the start that both sC and Crazy weren't playing their best.

As sC fell to a quick 0-4 in his group, his Terran brother KeeN managed to regain his composure in the final matches against YongHwa and Avenge and went on to beat both decisively. His wavering against Avenge in the earlier match would remain a minute sidenote in an otherwise stellar performance by the MVP player.

Group E, featuring YugiOh, GuMiho, Swagger, JangBi and Creator will follow tomorrow at 11:10 CET (5:10 EST, 18:10 KST).
