Snezhnaya is finally around the horizon, with the region set to come out on 12 August, 2026.
HoYoverse, the developer behind the hit gacha game Genshin Impact, sat players down during a livestream today, 24 April, to reveal the next major region coming to the game: Snezhnaya.
Snezhnaya is the last of the seven nations, and the penultimate pit stop for players before the conclusion of the sprawling story. This region houses the one last god players must face on their journey: the Tsaritsa.
Although the livestream also went into detail about how the team of developers went on to develop Snezhnaya, no other important information has been revealed.
What is Snezhnaya?
Snezhnaya is one of the major regions of Teyvat. It is characterised as an incredibly cold region constantly barraged by perpetual snowstorms. The people of this nation worship the Tsaritsa, the Cryo goddess, who figured as an overarching antagonist throughout the player's journey so far.
Although Snezhnaya is seen as a frozen country, it is the most technologically-advanced nation in all of Teyvat. Much of the machinery associated with the Fatui, with its advanced mechanics and intricacy, are made in factories littered throughout the region. A key character who hails from Snezhnaya is Tartaglia, codename Childe, who is also a playable character.
Snezhnaya is inspired by Eastern Eurpoean culture, with its name hailing from Russian, which means “snowy”.
What can we expect when Snezhnaya drops?
The livestream detailed a number of new additions and improvements once Snezhnaya drops, which includes new systems regarding Cryo, evolved combat mechanics that include brand-new gameplay, a new mode of transport with the arrival of trains, and a conclusion to the plot thread regarding the Tsaritsa's motives with the Gnoses.
Additionaly, players can expect to see across-the-board visual improvements, upgrades, and greater integration of gameplay, as well as cinematic storytelling.
Other things to look forward to, like new playable characters and other details, are yet to be revealed.
When is Snezhnaya launching?
Snezhnaya is set to become available to players on 12 August, 2026. It is likely that the upcoming Version Luna VII, which will feature Nicole and Lohen as new playable characters, will be the last Nod-Krai focused patch for Genshin Impact.
Is there a livestream code that I can redeem for in-game rewards?
