What is coming in the final Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced update?

Ubisoft’s final major content update is on the way for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, adding a number of long-requested features for fans of the open world pirate game. First off, the game is getting a New Game+ mode, allowing players to start a new playthrough while retaining all their hard-earned weapons, ship upgrades, money, and more.

However, in New Game+, things will be a bit more difficult than the first playthrough. Elite Soldiers will be more common, and max rank ships will patrol the waters, with the difficulty making jumping up over five maximum New Game+ consecutive playthroughs.

However, players also have a few new rewards to look forward to. A new type of currency exclusive to New Game+ playthroughs called Escudos will allow players to buy new outfits and items. You’ll also be able to exchange Reales for Escudos at the General Store.

If you want to make things a bit more difficult for yourself, Black Flag Resynced is also getting a Nightmare Mode with harder-hitting enemies. In this mode, survival, stealth, and exploration will all be rendered more difficult as enemy damage and reaction times have been aggressively heightened.

There are also new community chests on the map, along with remade takedown animations from the original game and new cosmetic items for players to discover in the update. The latter cosmetics range from outfits to pet skins, though you’ll need Escudos to pick them up.

Not everyone is happy about the final major update, however. On the game’s YouTube page, commenters note that the final major update arrives at a scarcity of new content for the remake, which some argue could have been supported for longer. One comment reads: “The final Major Content Update, with no mission replay and no Freedom Cry DLC remake after 3 months, is so sad. You had to be reluctant Ubisoft, for a $60 remake to support it for only 3 months.”

However, Ubisoft isn’t done with updates on Assassin’s Creed just yet. Later this week, Ubisoft’s head of content Jean Guesdon is set to “share another update on what’s ahead for Assassin’s Creed,” which will likely give players a better idea for the next game after Black Flag Resynced.
