The second season of the League of Legends animated series Arcane won big at the 52nd Annie Awards on Saturday (8 February), sweeping all seven categories it was nominated for.
The Annie Awards, presented by the Los Angeles section of the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA-Hollywood), has been held annually since 1972 to recognise excellence in animation across film and television. The 52nd edition featured 32 categories and six Juried Awards.

Arcane won Best Direction – TV/Media for The Dirt Under Your Nails, beating out four other contenders, including Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation, Bob’s Burgers, and Tabby McTat. It also secured Best FX – TV/Media for the same episode, prevailing over Dream Productions and three episodes of Secret Level.
Notably, Arcane dominated the Best Character Animation category, winning for seven out of its nine episodes—far surpassing other contenders, which had only one to three episodes nominated. For Best Storyboarding, Killing Is a Cycle triumphed over competition from Invincible Fight Girl, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin, and Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

In 2021, Arcane's first season also had a record-breaking run, sweeping nine Annie Awards—the most ever received by a single season. With this year’s wins, the first season is now tied with The Wild Robot for the most awards won in every nominated category, with more than three nominations in a single year.
The second season of Arcane has been a resounding success, debuting with a perfect 100% critic score for its first episode. It concluded with a 9/10 rating on IMDb and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The series was also nominated for Best Video Game Adaptation at the 2024 Game Awards but lost to Fallout.
While Season 2 marks Arcane's final chapter, Riot Games has confirmed that three spinoffs are currently in planning and production.
