Apex Legends reigns supreme in the Mobile market

As the year of 2022 comes to its end, Google Play and the App Store have posted their best applications and games for the year.

With the end of each year, many companies release their “best of” announcements – highlighting things that they found to be the pinnacle of their platform. For gaming, this comes in many different shapes and forms, with there being an over-arching game awards which deals with the mainstream triple-A titles, while other organisations highlight things in different ways. For the likes of Apple and Google, their application stores on mobile see an incredible amount of traffic, and with that, we have seen their choices for the top performing application and game on the mobile platform.

Over the past few years, we have seen the continuous upward growth of mobile gaming, with a plethora of mainstream titles adding to those that already have a standing on the platform. While games such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang may lead the pack in some cases, League of Legends: Wild Rift, PUBG Mobile, and Call of Duty Mobile have certainly found their place in the market too. However, 2022 seems to have found a different winner in its gaming category for Mobile, with Apex Legends Mobile taking the spoils on both Google Play and the App Store.

Apex Legends released initially all the way back in 2019, but it was only brought to the mobile market earlier in 2022 – and it seems as though it is flourishing again. While the game enjoyed a massive player base on its initial Windows and console release, it begun to struggle to hold its own in a market full of shooter battle-royale games. The developer’s choice to take the game to the mobile-sphere seems to have panned out perfectly as Apex Legends Mobile is up there with the likes of Genshin Impact and Tower of Fantasy for the mobile world.
