Overwatch's 15th tank D.Mon gets a big gun when de-meched, gameplay trailer confirms

Much like D.Va, D.Mon can de-mech.

Overwatch has released a gameplay trailer for its 53rd hero D.Mon, who is set to launch in the game’s upcoming fourth season of content. D.Mon is a member of South Korea’s MEKA Squad, a squadron of mecha pilots fighting to protect Busan from invading threats. She once served as part of the MEKA squad alongside D.Va, the latter of whom eventually left to join Overwatch.

D.Mon’s new gameplay trailer has revealed that she’s more of a melee tank hero like Reinhardt, wielding a sword in battle and charging into enemies headfirst. She also has an automatic rifle, however, along with an ultimate ability that exposes enemy weaknesses.

What are D.Mon's hero abilities in Overwatch?

Overwatch officially revealed its 53rd hero D.Mon last week, with a brand-new Hero Trailer called Tough Call. The trailer revealed that iconic hero D.Va would finally have a fellow mech-user join the playing field in Season 4, with the hero in question–Yuna Lee, AKA D.Mon–being her ex-squadmate, no less.

This week, Blizzard released a gameplay trailer for D.Mon, revealing the hero’s abilities. We’ll break down her hero kit here; D.Mon is the game’s 15th tank, and takes after Reinhardt in being a melee-focused hero. Her primary attack is a Plasma Sword strike, which can slash at enemies within melee range. She also has a Fusion Repeater ability, which allows her to fire off ranged bursts from her shoulder-mounted gun.

D.Mon can also pull up a wide shield, though it’s not quite as wide as Reinhardt’s, implying that it’s meant to protect her, rather than her entire team. Besides that, D.Mon can also dash horizontally using a fuel meter much like Jetpack Cat. She can also use a Surging Strike attack while holding up the shield, causing her to dash forward and attack enemies while also knocking them back.

Her ultimate ability, Limit Break, causes her to strike multiple enemies with her sword. This strike inflicts a debuff comparable to Zenyatta’s Discord, causing enemies to take more damage, while also granting D.Mon overhealth. Her sub-role is Stalwart.

When D.Mon completely runs out of health, she will de-mech just like D.Va. Upon de-meching, D.Mon will be stranded without her mech (which is called Beast), with a singular souvenir: her mech’s Fusion Repeater. After a little while, she’ll finally be able to recall Beast and get back in the mech. However, it looks like she’ll rise into the air while re-meching piece-by-piece, which might mean that, unlike D.Va, she might not be able to get a kill simply by summoning the mech while next to an enemy.

D.Mon launches in Overwatch Season 4, on 11 August, 2026.
