G2 Esports claimed their 20th LEC title with their victory in LEC 2026 Summer.
G2 Esports have been crowned as the champions of the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) 2026 Summer Split after they soundly swept 
Movistar KOI (MKOI), 3-0, in the grand finals on Monday (21 September).
With this victory, G2 have claimed their fourth straight LEC title as well as their 20th crown overall, further cementing the organisation's dominance over the European League of Legends scene. G2's stalwart mid laner 
Rasmus “Caps” Winther also earned his 18th LEC title, handing yet another accolade to the first-ever European player to be inducted into the game's Hall of Legends.
As the reigning LEC champions, G2 will lead the contingent of teams representing the LEC in Worlds 2026, which also include runners-up MKOI and third placer 
Karmine Corp (KC). All three LEC representatives will start Worlds 2026 in the Swiss Stage, which will take place in Allen, Texas from 23 to 31 October.
How G2 Esports claimed their 20th LEC title and qualified for Worlds 2026
Following their 5th-8th place finish in last year's world championship, G2 entered 2026 with renewed vigor by winning LEC 2026 Versus and the 2026 First Stand Tournament in March. They then won the League of Legends Esports World Cup 2026 EMEA qualifier in May and LEC 2026 Spring in June. G2 then lost steam in July, finishing fourth in the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational and only managing a 9th-12th place in the Esports World Cup.
In the LEC 2026 Summer Regular Season, G2 finished with a 6-3 record to place third in the standings behind KC and 
Team Vitality. But once the Playoffs kicked off, G2 got the better of the two teams that finished ahead of them in the Regular Season.
G2 first swept Vitality in the upper bracket semifinals then defeated KC in four games in the upper bracket finals, earning them a spot in the grand finals. Their opponents in the championship round would be MKOI, who went on a fiery run through the lower bracket. MKOI first outlasted Vitality in five games in the lower bracket quarterfinals, then defeated 
Natus Vincere in four games in the lower bracket semifinals. MKOI then earned the right to challenge G2 in the grand finals by sweeping KC in the lower bracket finals.
Despite the momentum they built through their lower bracket run, MKOI were outclassed by G2 in the championship round. G2 won game one in just under 28 minutes of action, game two in 31 minutes, then secured their 20th LEC title in a 29-minute rout in game three.
