Anub'arak and Arthas experience huge surge in popularity and win-rate

Artanis is getting less popular by the week as people are figuring out just how powerful the newly buffed Arthas and Anub'arak are.

While it's imperfect, Hotslogs still remains the most reliable and practical data trove available to the Heroes community. It samples thousands of matches from all leagues to provide some context for the trends we all noticed already in our own Heroes grind sessions.

New top Warriors

This week, the data is clear: Anub'arak is the real deal. Not only has he skyrocketed in popularity and win-rate in Master league, but his resurgence is being felt throughout Diamond and Platinum as well. If you are wondering why, remember that just two weeks ago Anub'arak received some huge buffs, including a lower cooldown and an added slowing effect to his Burrow Charge and more damage absorb with his Hardened Carapace

Arthas is experiencing the same type of resurgence and this largely comes from the buffs to his Frozen Tempest ability. Arthas has carved himself a niche as a powerful counter to auto attack-centric heroes, and is especially powerful when paired with Lucio. All of those slows, roots, and chill effects combined with added move speed is a terrifying force.

Lucio God

Speaking of Lucio, his popularity is through the roof. He has the highest win rate of all support heroes and his pick rate is steadily increasing. Sure, he isn't as popular as Malfurion (really, who is?) but it marks a big change from his post-patch uses. Perhaps the Heroes community was inspired by MVP Black's Lucio play during their Eastern Clash victory?

One of the most interesting things to look at when it comes to Lucio is the sharp increase in win percentage once he obtains a level 20 talent. Lucio's late game strength is arguably too good-- take a look for yourself.

Pick Bonus Track at 20 and the Lucio team has a 67.6 % chance to win. If you are really desperate to climb the ranks, give Lucio a spin before the meta changes again. This may be sooner rather than later, as we learned from the recent developer AMA that next patch will feature an entire kit-rework of Uther.
