Heroes Rising, the first major Heroes of the Storm tournament in 2016, will be held in the eSports Arena in Santa Ana, California on Jan. 9th & 10th.

Heroes Rising is a crowd-funded tournament that will host some of the best teams from across the nation. eSports Arena invited five teams to compete - Cloud9, Tempo Storm, Murloc Geniuses, COGnitive Gaming and Panda Global

Five teams also earned the right to compete through qualifier matches - Team Blaze, Bob Ross Fan Club, oVo gaming, Blank and King of Blades. Bob Ross Fan Club is out for blood after dominating the Competition to land a spot at Heroes Rising.

These teams will battle it out for over $10,000 in prize money, made possible through sponsors and crowdfunding. The tournament will be broadcast live on twitch.tv/eSportsArena with eSports casters Gillyweed and Zoia.

This will be the first time for teams to compete after drastic roster changes, most notably between Cloud9, Tempo Storm, and Bob Ross Fan Club.  Arthelon, who formerly played for Tempo Storm and Bob Ross Fan Club will be playing for Cloud9. While Fan, formerly of Cloud 9, will be playing with Bob Ross Fan Club along side Zuna of past Tempo Storm fame. Tempo Storm will reportedly be trying out new players at the event.

It will be a tournament filled with old allies now competing against each and a lot of pride is on the line. Cloud9 won the Heroes of the Storm World Championship at BlizzCon in 2015, but went on to be beaten by Zero Gaming at the Chinese Gold Series. Tempo Storm hasn’t competed since BlizzCon back in November and this is their first chance to redeem themselves.

Meanwhile, some of the hungriest new teams of last year will be fighting tooth and nail for the chance at toppling the big names. Team Blaze, Murloc Geniuses, and Panda Global all have something to prove, while the ever reliable COGnitive gaming will be looking to show off their new lineup.

With the level of talent competing at Heroes Rising and the first chance at competitive momentum at stake, it’s definitely going to be a spectacle.
