WCA 2015: Who beat who and the epic grand finals

With the lack of English streams, and difficulty of getting match results for WCA, it's hard to know how your favorite team did. Here is what we know of the game results thus far.

Heading into Day 2 of WCA, those of us outside of the event are starting to receive trickles of information about the tournament so far. A lack of English stream and a schedule that has gone through rigorous shuffling has made coverage of the event rather difficult. With three of the North American teams pulling out prior to the event, it ensured that the remaining four teams from Group A and all but one of the remaining teams from Group B would advance to the bracket stage of the tournament.

With compLexity Gaming and Tempo Storm pulling out from Group A, the rest of the teams were ensured a place in the bracket stage, with just three best-of-threes each determining seeding. Team Asia StarDust from Korea dominated the group with 2-0 wins over Edward Gaming and G2, and a 2-1 victory against OMG. Even though they will still be going through to the bracket stage, OMG seemed to struggle when a series got tense, losing all three of their matches 1-2. The final places in the group then came down to the series between Edward Gaming and G2, which went in favor of EDG 2-0.

On the other side, Team Liquid was able to take first seed, winning 2-1 in their matches over MVP Black and eStar Gaming, while dominating both Brave Heart and COGnitive 2-0. MVP Black took the second seed, winning 2-0 in all their sets barring their loss to Team Liquid. The two Chinese teams rounded out the standings, with eStar Gaming (2-2) and Brave Heart (1-3) taking third and fourth respectively.

Tthe sole North American representative COGnitive Gaming were eliminated as they were swept by the competition, going 0-2 in all of their matches.

Moving into the bracket stage of the competition, we will be seeing Team Asia StarDust vs Brave Heart and MVP Black vs G2 on the top side of the bracket, with Team Liquid vs OMG and Edward Gaming vs eStar on the bottom.

With Team Asia Stardust taking an expected win over Brave Heart 2-1. and MVP Black going 2-0 over G2, they were able to ensure an all Korean semi final on the top side of the bracketMVP black then handily defeated Team Asia StarDust 2-0 and locking in an appearance in the Grand Final.

The last western team, Team Liquid, suffered an unexpected upset at the hands of OMG, losing 1-2 and EDward Gaming lost to eStar 1-2. OMG were not able to make the miracle run go any further, losing 0-2 but still locking in a date with Team Asia StarDust to fight it out for third place.

Now, MVP Black and eStar will face in the grand finals.
