Latest HoTS patch removes talent gating, introduces more free hero slots

The moment we've all been waiting for has arrived, the removal of that cursed talent gating.

Patch Notes

The latest Heroes of the Storm patch is somewhat small, but it brings with it several quality of life improvements for new and old players alike. Among the changes are the long awaited removal of talent gating. Gone are the days of being forced to take talents you would otherwise not want just because you're new with a hero.

Another big change in this patch is the introduction of four more free hero rotation slots. This is long awaited, as the roster grows ever larger it becomes much harder to play every character with only six of them free per week. Now players should have far more flexibility with completing their daily quests and picking heroes they'd like to play.

The last two major updates this patch brings are a holiday xp bonus and and extension on the Black Friday Sale. While not huge changes, an xp bonus is great for new players and old players alike, and even better now that more heroes are open for everyone at once.

There is one minor caveat to these changes however. It is far easier to create a 'smurf' account now. If you don't know what that is, a smurf account is a fresh account where you have no match ranking yet. While not necessarily a bad thing, this being so easy to do could create a poor first impression of the game for genuinely new players. After all, nobody wants to be beaten badly especially if they don't really know what they're doing.

Still no word on Lunara, but we'll keep you up to date on any new information.
