Some of the best teams in Europe go against open qualifier underdogs as the largest online tournament in the region resumes tonight!
At 18:00 CEST, make sure you’re within a hand’s reach of a Twitch stream as Enter the Storm #3 resumes with its highest stakes edition yet. After many weeks of qualifiers action, we’ve matched the seven best teams from Enter the Storm #2 with nine of the most consistent participants from the preliminary rounds and it all begins tonight.
The tournament will open with Group A, featuring the kings of Europe Team Liquid as the highest seed. Led by former StarCraft professionals, the Moreno brothers Vortix and Lucifron, the Spanish armada comes off of a victorious campaign at the second open qualifier for the European Road to Blizzcon, a recent triumph at WCA European qualifiers in Cologne as well as being the reigning Enter the Storm champions. The horseheads are also holding the top position in the GosuGamers world rankings, boasting the ridiculous 88% win-rate spanning over 90 games.
This is the level of opposition that up-and-coming team Mozzarella will have to face in tonight’s opening match. Although relatively new as a group, Mozzarella’s roster consists of several Heroes veterans, including former mYi and Fnatic captain Cristian “AceofSpades” Lippa. Mozzarella punched one of the last tickets into ETS #3 and will be looking forward to slaying the Goliath that is Liquid.
In the second match of the group, Alternate Fancy meet You Dun Goofed. ATNF may not be in their best form, but they were among the hottest teams in April and May. You Dun Goofed, on the other hand, come in as a last minute replacement due to Kappa123’s disbandment so they better be ready – Fancy will not go down without a fight.
Two of those four teams will move on to the playoffs phase of the tournament where eight teams will fight to split a meaty prize pool of $10,000 in cash plus additional hardware.
