Are you part of the ANZ region? Blizzard introduces feature to guarantee even less high ping matches

Good news for HotS fans from Australia/New Zealand, soon you will experience even less games on high ping servers. If you so choose.

Due to the way regions work in Heroes of the Storm, the Australia/New Zealand region (ANZ) is grouped up with Latin America and North America under the Americas region. This has a bunch of consequences, both for the competitive scene, and for in game server allocation.

If you are a player who lives in the ANZ region, you might have noticed that you get more lag during some games than others. This is due to the fact that sometimes Blizzard will make you play on a North American server instead of one closer to where you live. Because the distance between your computer and the game server is so large, you experience a higher ping and therefore a less streamlined game experience.

Well, Blizzard has some good news. They are adding a new feature to the game: the ability to select your preferred game server. With the introduction of this new setting, you will be able to let Blizzard's systems know that you prefer playing with other people from your region. One of the options in the new selection feature will be that of the Australian game server. This means that, after the release of the new Heroes of the Storm patch, players in the ANZ region who will make use of this new feature can expect more streamlined games and less high-ping games.

For more information, and for the possibility to show Blizzard how you feel about this update, go to this topic on the official Heroes of the Storm forums.
