Latin America resolute in the first Americas/APAC Global Games clash

Brazil and Argentina made strong debuts for the region against Indonesia and Australia.

Led by Fran “PNC” Leimontas and Facundo “Nalguidan” Nahuel, Argentina took a sweeping victory over Australia in last night’s HGG broadcast. The Pacific nation with Alex “NaviOOT” Ridley on the vanguard brought a trio of slow decks but struggled to get on the map.

A timely [card]sorcerer's apprentice[/card] draw saved PNC on the last turn of his Exodia Quest Mage and the Argentinian was able to [card]molten reflection[/card] his way to unlimited [card]fireball[/card]s to open the series. In game two, even after drawing his entire Ramp Druid, “Ender” could not finish Nalguidan’s Quest Warrior and Argentina was now up by a pair.

Perhaps the biggest blunder of the series came from Australia’s “Jowen” piloting the new [card]inner fire[/card] Priest. Jowen got a 12/12 minion against Santiago "Snail" Bigatti’s Elemental Shaman, but the rope burned before he could attack. An easy [card]flametongue totem[/card] clear secured the sweep for Argentina.

In the second match of the day, Indonesia was well on its way to deliver to fourth HGG sweep in a row against Brazil until Thiago “Coglorin” Pontes and Cesar “Legolas” Pereira stopped the march in the last three games, completing the reverse kill. Coglorin’s Secrets Tempo Mage was the turning point for Brazil as chip damage punished Indonesia’s double [card]bittertide hydra[/card].

The results of the first three days mean there is no decisive leader in any group just yet. There are ties in wins and game score alike in groups A, B, C and H and week two will help untie some of these knots at least.
