The Tempo Storm player is the first to advance to the $30,000 final stage.
After a rough start of the group stage, Haiyun “Eloise” Tang will be making an appearance in the playoffs. The popular Hearthstone personality and streamer fell 4-9 to Radu “Rdu” Dima in the opening weekend but has since recovered to defeated Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy (9-3), Sebastian “Xixo” Bentert (9-6) and Zhang “ZhangBo” Bo (9-7), putting her at +6 tiebreaker score. With just one match to go and with top four of each group advancing to the playoffs, Eloise is certain to contest the next stage.
Which three will follow her there is still to be seen. Rdu and Xixo are both at 2-1 with one match less than everyone else in the group and will play each other today. The winner is to go through and the rest will join Lifecoach and ZhangBo in the tie-breaker battle. One thing that is certain is the elimination of Yuxiang “Breath” Chen, who is yet to win a series in the Celestial Invitational and will try to salvage his record against points leader Eloise later this week.
In Group B, Thijs “ThijsNL” Molendijk just secured his own playoffs spot, going 9-6 against David “Dog” Caero. ThijsNL’s group has clear-cut winners and runner-ups with him, Dog and Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh in the lead and Jason Zhou, Bohan “Lovelychook” Zhang and Andrey “Reynad” Yanyuk in the bottom half of the standings. The knot there will be untied by the end of the week when all eight players for the playoffs will be decided.
