The North American powerhouses have been confirmed for the tournament’s second edition.
When it comes to North American rosters, none are arguably more worthy than Luminosity Gaming and Cloud9. LG have risen this year to be a force to be reckoned with, signing two major champions in Keaton “Chakki” Gil (DreamHack Austin) and Frank “Fr0zen” Zhang (ONOG) alongside veterans Paul “Zalae” Nemeth (ex-Archon) and Muzahidul “Muzzy” Islam (ex-Hearthlytics). These five joined Christopher “PHONETAP” Huynh, part of the founding LG Hearthstone roster, to form essentially the NA super-team.
All of LG’s players will take part of ATLC 2, provided the tournament clears the $206,000 crowdfunding goal by the end of the month. Chakki, Frozen and Zalae will play as one team in the main event, while Muzzy and Phonetap have been accepted into the invitational qualifier.
Inaugural season runner-ups Cloud 9 are also set to return to the league. Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh and Cong “StrifeCro” Shu are joined by their new team-mate, former world champion James “Firebat” Kostesich, who replaces the recently departed Jan “Ekop” Palys. Thus, the number of confirmed teams is up to four, counting G2 Esports and “The Gentlemen Club” trio of Sebastian “Forsen” Fors, Sebastian “Ostkaka” Engwall and Jan “SuperJJ” Janssen
ATLC 2’s future is still unclear. Its Kickstarter campaign has raised a little under $12,000 of the total $206,000 goal in ten days and prospects for full funding are looking grim.
