Pavel wins Last Call Europe over Rdu

After coming up one win short of Blizzcon 2015 spot, the ANOX player finally achieves the Hearthstone dream – to play at the World Championship.

As the 2015 Europe Championship was underway in Prague last year, many eyes were fixated on the young talent Pavel “Pavel” Beltukov. A rising star in the Hearthstone scene and a veteran of many online cups, Pavel – then a player for Team Empire – is one win away from Blizzcon. His last opponent for the day is G2’s Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy.

In the fourth and final game of the series, Pavel is behind 1-2 and desperately needs a tie with his Control Warlock against Lifecoach’s Combo Druid. Staring down a [card]sylvanas windrunner[/card], the pressure of the big stages gets to Pavel and, messing up the sequencing, he gives the German his 7/7 [card]Dr Boom[/card] and the means to find lethal. Pavel’s Blizzcon dream is over.

Last night, the same youngster who was responsible for “The Pavel” played a perfect tournament and got his redemption. Topping his run through Last Call Europe, Pavel took on his G2 revenge against Radu “Rdu” Dima in the grand finals, punching his ticket on the back of a 4-1 scoreboard.

It was a dominant showing for Pavel throughout the tournament as he dropped a total of three games out of the fifteen he played. His grand final face-off began with a comfortable 3-0 lead as he locked his Tempo Mage, Miracle and Malygos Druid against Rdu’s Discard Zoo and Midrange Hunter. The Romanian got on the scoreboard for just one game, before Pavel closed it in the fifth as C’Thun’s Warrior Cultists weathered the totems of Rdu. This is also Russia's first ever appearance at Blizzcon, despite being one of the most active Hearthstone nations.

With Last Call Europe done, the line-up for the World Finals are two spots away from being completed. Those will be decided in the next week, first at the APAC Last Call on October 10 and later at the Americas Last Call on October 15.
