Canadian player Julien “Cydonia” Perrault becomes the founding member of Escape Gaming’s Hearthstone division.
When the line-up for the Americas Spring Championship was decided, no clear favorite was outlined. The octet was made of lesser known names exclusively, so it was anybody’s game. With five representatives, however, the United States was the favorite to take it home again, and secure a second representative at Blizzcon.
This is where one Cydonia came to put an end to these hopes. The Canadian played the full 21 games in three series, ousting Deerjason, Napoleon and Rosty to pocket $25,000 and a spot at the World Finals.
Teamless up until now, Cydonia will now represent the colors of Escape Gaming. An organization as young as this March, this will be Escape’s major exposure ticket, as their first Hearthstone player will contest the million-dollar prize pool in November this year. Escape’s player will face the best the four regions have to offer, challenging a list of players which already has Archon’s prodigy William “Amnesiac” Barton, two-times Europe champion and GosuAwards “Best player” winner Thijs “ThijsNL” Molendijk, Virtus.pro’s rising start Ole “Naiman” Batyrbekov and more.
