First common Neutral minion of One Night in Karazhan shown

'Pompous Thespian' takes the stage in the Opera wing of Medivh's grand party.

It seems as if Blizzard is slowing down the pace of card release a little. Whereas at first two cards were shown per day, recently we are only granted one new card per update. Yesterday we got to see Warlock's new spell, and in a news post on the Hearthstone website today also one new card was shown. Hopefully the flood gate of new cards will be opened a little further again soon.

Most likely being a reward in the Opera wing of One Night in Karazhan, Pompous Thespian itself isn't a card to make much drama about. It's an upgrade to [card]Frostwolf Grunt[/card], a card most people that have played Hearthstone for longer than a month won't even remember, as it's easily outclassed by other minions. The 3/2 stats and taunt are, softly said, unimpressive from a competitive view. There is a wide variety of 2-drops that have more value in the earlier stages of the game. Think of cards such as [card]Totem Golem[/card], [card]Undercity Huckster[/card] and even [card]Wyrmrest Agent[/card]. Granted, these are all class cards, but every class seems to have a better alternative.

Perhaps, in a distant future, taunts will dominate the metagame. [card]Bolster[/card] will be seen everywhere, and Pompous Thespian will have the last laugh. For now though, the artistic Night Elf will most likely have to stick to his script in the Opera.
