Trump grabs the HTC Recharged title

Last weekend Jeffrey "Trump" Shih finally got his first tournament win and takes home $2,500.

The HTC Recharged tournament, casted by Octavian “Kripparian” Morosan and Marcin “Gnimsh” Filipowicz, was unfortunately overshadowed by streaming problems.  Although the first day seemed to go near flawlessly, the second day didn’t go well at all. On several occasions the stream went offline, causing an unpleasant viewing experience. In a tweet, the HTC eSports department explained that the EU servers were unstable, causing the stream to switch on and off as well.

In the tournament, Trump’s line-up of Mech Shaman, Malygos Warlock and Midrange Hunter proved to be too strong for several notable players. The Team SoloMid member started his run with an impressive victory over German powerhouse Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy. The next day, in the second round, it was qualified player Ryan “Bunnymuffins” T who was defeated by the Mayor of Value town. In the semi-finals Trump had to face compLexity player David “Dog” Caero. It was in this series that one of the most remarkable moments of the tournament happened when Trump played his Shaman against Dog’s Druid, and turned around the game with three consecutive draws.

After this Trump went down 1-2, but managed to defeat Dog nevertheless and advance to the finals. There, he had to face  SangYeol “Nugoory” Lee. Nugoory had had quite an impressive tournament run as well, not only because he managed to fight his way to the tournament all through the qualifiers. In the previous rounds, he had kicked Sebastian “Forsen” Fors, Jakub “Lothar” Szygulski and Petar “Gaara” Stevanovic out of the tournament. However, in the finals it was Trump who proved better. With his Hunter deck and, as stated later by Trump himself on his Twitch channel, “superb draws”, he sealed his victory.
