Here’s what we think about Hearthstone mechanics and their future

In the latest episode of “The Innervated” podcast, its four hosts engage in a lengthy discussion about card game design and the future of Hearthstone in particular.

It’s the night of June 22nd and Nydra, Chiv, Sumadin and Sir_Kristjan gather around for almost two hours of heated discussion. Apart from the news recap of last week and their impressions of the first week of Tavern Brawl, the main topic of the tenth episode of “The Innervated” podcast is card game mechanics and how they behave in Hearthstone.

The chat is comprehensive. It starts from mechanics currently in Hearthstone which the hosts think work or do not work fine. You will learn why Overload has become outdated. Why we consider secrets to be awesome, even though their rise to power came with the dreaded [card]Mad Scientist[/card]. You will hear why we’re split on the Deathrattle mechanic as we discuss the good and the bad of having an effect upon a minion’s death.

We then move on to discussing mechanics still not present in Hearthstone, which would be either great to have or very damaging if implemented. Why do we never want to see hand and mana disruption? What should graveyard interaction look like? What playstyle do we think Hearthstone needs to search for as the game grows?

If you have a few free hours or you’re just looking for a Hearthstone show to help pass your trip to work, give “The Innervated” a go. If you like us, subscribe to us on YouTube and come join us each Monday at 21:00 CEST as we stream the new episode live.
