The Chinese household name is also the first player to break the 1,300 points barrier on the GosuRankings as he’s one win away from triumph in Sweden.
Two games into the series against Esteban “AKAWonder” Serrano, Xieyu “TiddlerCelestial” Wang was staring at the face of elimination as the Spaniard had taken a 2-0 lead against him. Neither the Patron nor the Zoo were able to do it for the Chinese and AKAWonder was down to his last deck, a Control Paladin which needed to just win one game.
This is where Wonder’s line-up crumbled. Tiddler opened game three with his Patron Warrior, ensuring that he gets a fantastic match-up, one which he won with ease. Next, it was Zoo’s turn which came really close to dying but a [card]Power Overwhelming[/card] plus a [card]Doomguard[/card] hit the Spaniard for exact lethal.
Finally, it came down to a Druid versus Paladin match-up and all cards were on the table. Paladin performs well against Druid but not when it gets its [card]Light's Justice[/card] hit by [card]Harrison Jones[/card]. With card and tempo advantage on his side, Tiddler’s victory was easy from there on.
The founder of team Celestial has now broken the all-time GosuRankings records and is looking forward to beat another one – that for most prize money won in tournaments. Just $10,000 below world champion James “Firebat” Kostesich, TiddlerCelestial will need the victory in Sweden and the $12,500 that go with it to make it on top of that list as well.
Tiddler will play Complexity's David "Dog" Caero for the title at 19:10 CET.
